Further to the last report the loco was taken out on a series of loaded test runs / driver training trips on the 9th April. The loco performed faultlessly throughout the day and has subsequently been realised back into service. A date for the bogie change has yet to be finalised but is envisaged to take place sometime with the next 6 weeks or so. 254’s first Class One outing of 2009 is set to take place on Saturday the 11th April, this will see the loco work the first return trip to Groombridge.
During the last exam we carried out a brush length check and discovered a number of electrical machines that required brush changes, this included the oil priming pump, fuel priming pump and the exhausters. These are now on order and will be changed out over the next couple of weeks. The main generator has been scheduled in for a fall clean next exam.
